In various French cities, including Paris, Marseille and Rennes, hundreds gathered this afternoon in response to the overwhelming victory of the far-right National Rally in the European elections. Parties, associations and union organizations such as France Insoumise (LFI), the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and the National Union of Students called on the French people to protest against the rise of extreme right in main squares of French cities.
Following the release of first exit polls, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of National Assembly and called for elections on June 30 and July 7.
