Galactic Dreams: Spanish Kids’ Interests in Space Exploration

Study finds 77% of Spanish children have aspirations to travel to space

According to a recent study, a majority of Spanish children (77%) expressed a desire to travel to space. Many of them were interested in discovering new planets, stars, galaxies and even extraterrestrials if given the chance. The LEGO Group conducted this research in conjunction with the release of new space-themed sets to better understand children’s interests in this subject.

The study found that 88% of Spanish minors found planets, stars, and galaxies interesting, with around half stating they would like to become astronauts in the future. Interestingly, more boys (59%) expressed this desire compared to girls (41%). Additionally, 86% of children were interested in exploring new celestial bodies, with 68% believing in the existence of aliens and 64% expressing a desire to meet them.

From the parents’ perspective, 76% believed that children of the alpha generation (those born since mid-2010) were more likely to travel to space than previous generations. They were also confident that these children will witness significant space discoveries in their lifetimes.
