Furniture Warehouse in Manhattan Closing After 41 Years: Owner Announces Retirement Plan and Quitting Business Sale

Long-standing Furniture Warehouse to shut down after four decades in business | Breaking News

After 41 years of business in Manhattan, Furniture Warehouse, located at 2326 Skyvue Lane, is set to close its doors permanently. Steve Williams, the second-generation owner of the store, has announced that shuttering the business was part of a long-term strategy for eventual retirement.

Williams and his wife have been working on a 10-year plan to retire and travel extensively. After four decades of serving the community, they are finally able to implement their plan. The furniture store will begin selling off its remaining inventory on June 6 and will hold a “quitting business sale” that is expected to last approximately 90 days.

The length of the sale will largely depend on how quickly they can dispose of well over $1 million of retail inventory. During the sale, Furniture Warehouse will have modified hours, with the store being open Thursday through Monday and reserved only for moving stock from the warehouse to the showroom on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On the first day of the sale, Williams expressed his gratitude to the community and reflected on the end of his business. He was touched by old friends and customers coming in to bid farewell and give well wishes.

Once Furniture Warehouse closes its doors, Williams and his wife plan to travel extensively. They want to explore all the places they have only heard about all these years. Williams talked about getting an RV and visiting all the places people have been talking about. He expressed excitement about finally having the time to see what they’ve been missing all these years while devoting their time to running a successful business in Manhattan.
