Fuller360 Partners with Vessev to Introduce the World’s First Luxury Travel Electric Hydrofoil: A Revolutionary Step towards Sustainable Maritime Transportation

Fuller360, New Zealand’s largest ferry company, has partnered with Vessev, a water transportation startup that introduced the VS-9, a 10-passenger electric ferry model equipped with hydrofoil technology. The VS-9 is described as the most accessible commercial electric train ever built and is efficient and environmentally friendly. Measuring 8.95 meters in length and weighing 3,629 kg, the VS-9 has a cruise speed of 45 km/h and a maximum speed of 55 km/h. Its battery pack has a range of 93 km.

One of the standout features of the VS-9 is its use of hydrofoil technology, which allows the vehicle to lift up to a height of one meter above the water surface at high speeds. This enables the vehicle to glide smoothly at 45 km/h, even allowing passengers to enjoy a glass of champagne without spilling a drop. The hydrofoil system utilizes shape-adjustable hydrofoils with high-precision rims to ensure smooth gliding in rough sea conditions and bad weather.

The VS-9 consumes 25 times less fuel than trailing boats and can save up to 95% on fuel costs compared to traditional gasoline or diesel-powered vessels. In addition, the lifetime mechanical costs of the VS-9 are significantly lower than comparable vehicles that rely on fossil fuels. Vessev CEO, Eric Laakman, believes that promoting efficiency through hydrofoil technology will play a crucial role in transitioning to more sustainable ships.

Through this partnership, Fuller360 aims to support its existing ferry fleet and promote environmentally friendly transportation options by introducing the world’s first luxury travel electric hydrofoil.
