Egypt boosts wheat reserves to 6.6 months

The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has announced that the strategic wheat reserve has increased to 6.6 months after supplying 3.551 million tons of local wheat. The ministry noted that some wheat receiving sites are still operating in certain governorates and that supply operations will continue until July 15, with expectations to reach 3.6 million tons.

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, reported that EGP 45 billion had been paid to suppliers and farmers with all dues settled. He attributed the increase in local wheat supply this year to newly reclaimed lands in Toshka and East El-Oweinat, as well as cooperation between all involved parties. The Minister highlighted the full capacity operation of sites receiving local wheat and praised the efforts of various organizations in the wheat supply chain.

Assistant Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ahmed Kamal, emphasized the importance of timely payment to suppliers and farmers, as well as the facilitation of supply operations. He mentioned that the central operations room at the ministry had not received any complaints throughout the season, indicating smooth proceedings without any issues.
