Kathy Couch, a therapist with 18 years of experience in mental health, has partnered with students from the CSI Marketing Program to develop a business idea called Rewired360. The goal of this initiative is to improve access to EMDR certification for clinicians and therapists, ultimately providing a higher level of care to those in need.
Rewired360 is now in the running for a $40,000 prize at the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge semi-finals in Boise on April 4th and 5th. EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization Reconditioning, is a therapeutic technique used by Couch to help clients heal trauma, grief, and relational distress. It is effective for a variety of mental health issues and works quickly, freeing up therapy slots for those who need continuous support but can’t access it due to long waitlists.
Couch’s own experience running her practice inspired her to start Rewired360, as she realized that therapists are not necessarily taught how to run a business. Through collaborations with Natalie Klucken and Elle Whitehead from CSI, the trio has developed a plan to share Couch’s business knowledge with other clinicians in Southern Idaho. They have been working on presentations and pitches to prepare for the entrepreneur challenge.
The goal of Rewired360 is to help more people in Southern Idaho access quality care without the stress of long-term therapy. By training more professionals in EMDR, they hope to improve mental health outcomes in the community. Couch’s passion for helping people and the support of her partners from CSI have fueled their business idea and put them in the running for the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge prize.
