From Surgery to Gold: Nils Stump’s Journey to the Paris Olympics

The Return of the World Champion

Nils Stump, the former World champion from Switzerland, has been sporting a beard since February as he finally regained full mobility and fitness after shoulder surgery in November. Winning the Grand Slam tournament in Dushanbe (TJK) in May further boosted his confidence in his abilities. Despite this, Stump remains humble about his achievement and reflects on his bronze medal at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi. Currently ranked eighth in the world, Stump is determined to make an impact at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. This will be his second appearance at the Games, where he was eliminated in the early rounds in Tokyo. However, with more maturity and experience under his belt, Stump is looking forward to showcasing his skills in Paris with the support of his family, girlfriend and friends. With less than a month left until the Games begin, Stump is focused on his preparation and believes that up to 10 athletes have the potential to win the gold. The middleweight title will be decided on July 29th and Stump is eager to prove himself on the world stage as he looks ahead to making history at Paris 2024.
