From Startups to Giants: Any Company Can Fall Victim to Cyber Attacks – Targus International Shares Insights on How to Stay Protected

Targus, a major computer accessory company, reports cyberattack disrupting business operations

Cybersecurity breaches can happen to any company, regardless of their size or industry. Recently, Targus International, a major technology accessories manufacturer, experienced a cyberattack that began on April 5. The incident resulted in temporary disruptions in business operations as the company disclosed in an SEC filing that a hacker had gained access to its file systems.

Targus immediately activated its incident response and business continuity protocols to investigate, contain and remediate the incident. Proactive containment measures were implemented to disrupt unauthorized access, resulting in a temporary interruption in the company’s network operations. Although the investigation is ongoing and the incident caused a temporary disruption in business operations, Targus does not currently anticipate a significant impact on its financial condition or overall results of operations.

Targus is a subsidiary of B. Riley Financial and specializes in manufacturing laptop cases, bags, docking stations, tablet cases, keyboards and other accessories. While the cyberattack affected Targus specifically, other parts of B. Riley Financial were not disrupted. The company operates in 100 countries worldwide.

No hacking group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet at this time. For further insights into cybersecurity threats and how to prevent them from happening to your business again, Targus encourages businesses to explore Recorded Future Intelligence Cloud’s services.
