From St. Louis to National Healthcare Advocate: The Succession of Louise Probst and Laurel Pickering

Head of St. Louis health care business steps down

Louise Probst, who has been the leader of the St. Louis Area Business Health Coalition for over 20 years, has announced her plans to retire at the end of the month. The coalition is focused on advocating for lower healthcare costs on behalf of employers, with many of the region’s largest companies being members. Probst’s retirement will take place on June 30th.

Taking over as the new president and CEO of the organization will be Laurel Pickering, who will assume the role on June 5th. Pickering brings a wealth of experience to the position, holding a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University at Albany and a master’s in public health from Emory University. She has previously led the Northeast Business Group on Health for about two decades and has also worked for Welldoc, a digital health company, and Centivo, an alternative health plan.

With Pickering at the helm, the St. Louis Area Business Health Coalition looks forward to continued success in advocating for affordable healthcare for employers and families. In a press release, Pickering expressed her enthusiasm for the new role: “I am honored to take on this role and build upon BHC’s strong foundation. I look forward to collaborating with our members, partners, and other stakeholders to drive further innovation and positive change in healthcare value for employers and families in the St. Louis region and beyond.”
