From Sports Talk to Classic Rock: Rich Shertenlieb’s New Radio Show on WZLX

Rich Shertenlieb introduces a fresh Boston sports radio program on WZLX in partnership with NBC Boston

Rich Shertenlieb, a former co-host of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s morning radio show, has now launched his own sports radio talk show on classic rock station 104.7 WZLX-FM. This new show comes after the announcement that Shertenlieb will be replacing Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford, who had co-hosted the morning show on WZLX since 2005 alongside the late Kevin Karlson. The station is owned by iHeartRadio.

Shertenlieb’s new show airs from 6-10 a.m. and features a mix of different co-hosts, including former 98.5 The Sports Hub personalities Michael Hurley and Ted Johnson, a former New England Patriots linebacker. Shertenlieb has stated that regular contributors will include Mike Giardi, formerly of the NFL Network, NBC Sports Boston, and NECN, as well as Charlotte Wilder, previously of Sports Illustrated and currently a contributor to “The Dan LeBatard Show.”

During the first episode on Monday, Shertenlieb greeted listeners by announcing, “I’m Rich Shertenlieb and you’re listening to ‘The Rich Shertenlieb Show’ on WZLX.” He expressed his excitement for the new show and teased the return of familiar segments from his time on 98.5, such as audio of Celtics fans celebrating after a recent win.

Shertenlieb had left “Toucher & Rich,” the popular morning radio show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, late last year following a turbulent period for the show. Rob “Hardy” Poole has since taken his place as Toucher’s new co-host and the show is now called “Toucher & Hardy.”
