From Software Entrepreneur to Nexus Louisiana CEO: Calvin Mills and the Search for New Leadership in Louisiana’s Research Park Organization

Is Nexus Louisiana’s Next Leader on the Horizon in 2022?

Nexus Louisiana is currently seeking a new permanent leader to lead the organization as it continues to support 30 companies. The organization has announced plans to contract with a search firm this year to assist in recruiting the next leader.

Following the departure of former President and CEO Genevieve Silverman after 14 years, entrepreneur and former board chairman Calvin Mills has been serving as interim CEO. Although he initially had no ambitions of becoming the organization’s top executive, Mills felt compelled to step in when he received the call for leadership. Financial records for Research Park Corporation, Nexus Louisiana’s parent entity, showed a budget shortfall of $280,771 in the year Silverman left, with revenues of $2,578,258 and expenses totaling $2,859,029.

Mills had been focused on his software company prior to his role as interim CEO and never imagined taking on the leadership position at Nexus Louisiana. However, when the need arose, he stepped up to the challenge. Business Report’s full story delves into Nexus Louisiana’s search for new leadership, its funding situation, and its future goals.
