Lukas Skinner Takes Home Silver in International Surfing Competition

Lukas Skinner, a 16-year-old surfer from Cornwall, recently won a silver medal at the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Junior Surfing Championships in El Salvador. As part of the under 16s boys England Juniors team, Skinner took home the silver between 3-12 May in Surf City. Despite being disappointed to miss out on the gold medal, he expressed that coming in second in the world still felt good.

Skinner shared his excitement, stating, “To win silver back to back in the ISA World Juniors feels insane.” Despite the final waves going flat, he felt that his surfing was the best it had ever been in competition. Reflecting on his performance, he mentioned that the result has inspired him to come back even stronger in next year’s competition. Lukas’ father, Ben Skinner, who is an 11-time European longboard champion, was also present at the championships as a coach for the junior team.

In addition to his coaching role at the championships, Ben Skinner is currently ranked third in the World Surf League Longboard Tour.
