From Serving to Selling: Honoring the Service of Veteran-Owned Bicycle Stores in West Tennessee

West TN Veterans Coalition recognizes local veteran-owned business

In Jackson, Tenn, the West Tennessee Veterans Coalition recently recognized Navy veteran Shawn Riggs’ Bicycle City during their monthly meeting. The store, which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday in northwest Jackson, offers servicing for bicycles, wheelchairs, scooters and more. Bicycle City also sells popular brands like Haro, Masi, and Felt.

Riggs purchased the store in 2017 after it was established in 1972. He noted that e-bikes are currently in high demand, with customers showing a lot of interest in them. The store has seen e-bikes sell as well as, if not better than traditional bicycles.

The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition is dedicated to recognizing and supporting veteran-owned businesses in the region. By honoring businesses like Bicycle City, they hope to encourage residents to shop local and support veterans in the community.
