From Reels to Responsibility: Meta’s “Connected Parents” Series Tackles Digital Education for Families

Meta introduces ‘Connected Parents’ series to assist adults in monitoring children’s social media activity

Meta, the social media giant, has announced the launch of its new digital content series, “Connected Parents – The Series,” which will feature five episodes in Reels format that explore the topic of digital education in families. This series is a follow-up to last year’s successful “Connected Parents” campaign and is designed to provide practical advice and comfort to adults who struggle with guiding their digitally native children through the online world.

The main characters of the series include actor, comedian, and trainer Germano Lanzoni; the ‘Mammadimerda’ duo made up of authors and activists Francesca Fiore and Sarah Malnerich; and nanny Francesca Valla, a family counselor, teacher, and writer. Each episode will be published on their Instagram profiles starting from Tuesday, June 18th.

The goal of the series is to raise awareness among adults about responsible use of social media by teenagers. The episodes will address various challenges faced by families in the digital age by showcasing different perspectives through diverse roles taken by each character. Nanny Francesca Valla will guide them better in understanding and managing their online experiences.

Each episode will highlight specific security features on Instagram such as Parental Supervision, time management tools like “do not disturb mode” and “take a break,” Hidden Words and customization options in Explore. The series aims to provide comforting advice on responsible social media use for teenagers while acknowledging that it can be challenging for adults to navigate this complex terrain with their digitally native children.

Meta hopes that this new venture will create a safe environment for teenagers to connect online with their parents’ support. Through “Connected Parents – The Series,” they aim to engage a broader audience in discussions about online safety and well-being using an ironic approach that underlines the importance of open family dialogues about the digital world. With over 50 tools dedicated to teenage security and well-being on their platforms, Meta hopes to promote safe and responsible social media use within families.

Overall, this new series promises to provide both entertainment and practical guidance for parents navigating the complexities of raising digitally native children in today’s world.
