At just 29 years old, Thompson had an illustrious career with 15 wins since turning pro in 2010, including a major victory at the 2014 Chevron Championship. However, her recent struggles in LPGA Tour tournaments had taken their toll. Despite these challenges, Thompson remained a force on the tour and made headlines just before her 18th consecutive appearance at the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Thompson qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open at just 12 years old in 2007, making her the youngest golfer to ever participate in the tournament at that time. Her legacy in golf is sure to continue even after her retirement at the end of the 2024 season.

Thompson has a strong history in golf, winning numerous titles including the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship in 2008 and earning her first LPGA victory at the Navistar LPGA Classic in 2010. She has also represented the United States in prestigious events like the Solheim Cup and the U.S. Olympic team
