From Pots to Popcorn: Honors Biology Students Showcase Creativity at Science Fair”.

Unveiling the Biological Principles of the Freshman Science Fair in “The Wire”

The school year for freshmen in honors biology came to an end with a thrilling science fair. Orchestrated by Mrs. Eisenman, the event was the culmination of hard work and dedication by both the Biology teachers and students. Honors biology students had been preparing for this fair since the first quarter, working tirelessly on their projects each month leading up to the big day.

With endless possibilities, students were free to choose any topic they desired as long as it was approved by their teachers. From plant life to baking, there was no shortage of ideas for this science fair. Edy Sharp, a freshman, was particularly excited about being able to choose her project and let her creativity shine through.

The projects created by the students were nothing short of impressive. Topics ranged from the impact of pots on plant growth to the effect of popcorn brand on the number of kernels popped. Ms. Hadyn Eisenman, a biology teacher, encouraged upcoming ninth graders to start thinking about ideas for the next year’s fair. Although there were no winners in the 9th grade fair, it served as a prelude to the Honors Chemistry Science Fair where students would have a chance to compete regionally and possibly nationally.

Upperclassmen were invited to review, judge, and provide feedback to the students before their final grade was given. This additional feedback proved invaluable in helping students improve their projects and understand what they were missing. Addison Hood, a freshman, noted that the feedback she received helped her improve her project significantly.

The science fair provided an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and biology knowledge while expanding their understanding of topics they had not explored before
