From NFL Draft to UFL Success: Gareon Conley Joins the Dallas Cowboys

Conley joins Cowboys after signing as defensive back

In recent news, the Cowboys have welcomed another player to their roster from the UFL. This time, it is none other than former NFL first-round pick Gareon Conley. Dallas announced the signing on Tuesday, adding another defensive back to their team.

Conley is a 28-year-old player who was originally drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. During his time with Oakland, he played in 23 games before being traded to the Texans in October of 2019. Although he started six more games for Houston that season, he has not appeared in a regular-season game since then.

Following his time with the Texans, Conley signed with the Defenders in December and played seven games for the UFL team. During his time with the Defenders, he recorded an impressive 25 total tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Now, he joins linebacker Willie Harvey Jr. as one of two defensive additions from the UFL that Dallas has made this offseason.

As the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season, it will be fascinating to see how Conley’s addition impacts their defense. With his experience in the NFL and recent success in UFL play, he could prove to be a valuable asset as Dallas strives for success on defense next year.
