The annual Police Athletic League science fair was held at the center in Longwood, bringing together students from all five boroughs to showcase their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. The event attracted a large number of young minds eager to demonstrate their knowledge and passion for STEM fields.
Students ranging from fifth to eighth grade presented their projects on natural disasters, which included creating structures capable of withstanding hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires and more for at least 20 seconds. The competition was intense as students put their engineering skills to the test.
The first-place winner received $500 to fund a STEM project at their center. This rewarding experience allowed students not only to gain practical knowledge but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Through the annual event, young engineers in training were able to showcase their talents and passion for STEM fields.
