From National Record to Olympic Gold: Tang Qianting’s Journey to Glory

Qianting Tang of China Credits Doha World Title for Boosting Self-Confidence

As the 2024 Olympics draw near, the Chinese Olympic team is training intensely in Shanghai to improve on their impressive six-medal performance in Tokyo three years ago. Among the athletes is 20-year-old Tang Qianting, who recently won her first individual World Championships gold medal in Doha.

Tang has been making waves in the swimming community with her incredible talent and dedication. She set a new national record in the women’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:05.27 at the Chinese Championships, and later improved upon it with a time of 1:04.39 at the World Championships.

In an exclusive interview with China Media Group, Tang expressed her confidence and motivation heading into the Paris Olympics. She credits her success in Doha for giving her a boost in self-confidence and a hunger for more training. Tang has always dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal since she started swimming as a child, and she is determined to give her all to achieve that dream in Paris.

Unlike many of her teammates, Tang was not among the Chinese swimmers who tested positive for the banned substance TMZ earlier in the year. Despite finishing 10th in the women’s 100m breaststroke in Tokyo, Tang is focused on performing well in Paris with a relaxed mindset. She believes that maintaining this mindset will help her reach her peak performance and enjoy the journey to potentially winning an Olympic gold medal.

Tang’s success story serves as an inspiration to many aspiring athletes around the world. Her dedication, hard work, and determination have paid off handsomely, and she continues to push herself towards greater heights every day. With Paris just around the corner, Tang is more motivated than ever to make history and leave a lasting legacy on the world stage of swimming competition.
