From Naked to Nearly Naked: The World Naked Bike Ride Encourages Cyclists to Make a Statement for Safety

NOLA French Quarter Steals the Spotlight in World Naked Bike Ride 2024 | Entertainment and Lifestyle

In 2024, participants of the World Naked Bike Ride are encouraged to start thinking about what to wear for the event. While some may choose to ride entirely in the nude, options for attire include Speedos, bikinis, Band-Aids, glitter, body paint, or even a Crown Royal bag. The World Naked Bike Ride is a global event designed to raise awareness about the vulnerability of cyclists on the road. By exposing themselves, participants symbolize their exposure to danger and ask the question “Can You See Me Now?” The event aims to remind drivers to be mindful of cyclists and promote bicycle safety.

The past 16 years have seen New Orleans host its own version of the World Naked Bike Ride, attracting hundreds of scantily dressed cyclists and supportive onlookers. This year’s event is scheduled to take place on June 8 at 4 p.m., starting at Mickey Markey Park and winding through the French Quarter. While the exact route has not been announced, participants and spectators can visit NOLA.com and the World Naked Bike Ride—NOLA Facebook page for more information as the event approaches.
