From Monaco to Spurs: Can Vanderson Save Tottenham Hotspur’s Defense?

Tottenham mulling over the possibility of signing AS Monaco’s Vanderson as a replacement for Emerson Royal

Vanderson from AS Monaco may be the solution for Tottenham Hotspur if they lose Emerson Royal to AC Milan. The 22-year-old right-back has been developing under manager Philippe Clement since joining Monaco in January 2022. Despite facing challenges with injuries and setbacks, Vanderson managed to make 23 appearances and score three goals while providing one assist, earning his first cap for the Brazil national team.

Tottenham’s interest in Vanderson has been reported by Fabrizio Romano, but a potential deal could be complicated as Monaco is seeking more than €40m for the talented defender. Vanderson’s contract with Monaco runs until 2028, and with Champions League football on the horizon for the French club, they are likely to hold onto their key players like Vanderson. However, Tottenham appears to be actively considering him as a possible replacement for Emerson Royal should he leave for AC Milan.

In an effort to improve their defense, Tottenham may look at other options such as signing Ben Chilwell from Chelsea or Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. These options come with higher price tags and greater competition in the transfer market.

Despite these challenges, Tottenham’s interest in Vanderson remains strong. With his impressive performance in France and growing reputation on the international stage, he could be a valuable asset to any team looking to strengthen its defense.
