From Louisville to London: A WKU Grad’s Journey to Becoming a News Reporter, and the Donation of Historic Shake Rag Artifacts at WKU

A WKU student is making waves as a news reporter in Louisville, fulfilling a childhood dream that has been with her since third grade. Schanie, a Broadcasting major with minors in Marketing and Political Science, is passionate about journalism and committed to bringing important stories to the public. Meanwhile, Brittany Moster Bergonzi, PhD, shares her inspiring journey from Kentucky to the United Kingdom. Her decision to pursue studies at Harlaxton College was a pivotal moment that changed the course of her life. Through her story, she highlights the importance of curiosity, resilience, and seizing opportunities in order to grow and evolve. In another news story, the city has generously donated historic Shake Rag artifacts from the recovered Southern Queen Hotel to WKU’s Special Collections Library. This donation not only preserves the rich history of Shake Rag but also gives students and researchers the opportunity to explore and learn from these valuable pieces of the past.
