From Lions to Patriots: The Rise and Fall of Steele Chambers in the NFL”.

Patriots acquire linebacker from Lions through waivers

Rookie linebacker Steele Chambers was waived by the Detroit Lions, but quickly found a new home in the NFL with the New England Patriots. Despite being let go by the Lions, Chambers was claimed off waivers by the Patriots after being waived by Detroit.

The decision to waive Chambers came after the Lions signed veteran Ben Niemann to take his place in the linebacker room following last week’s mandatory minicamp. New England, holding the third spot in the NFL’s waiver claim order, was able to acquire Chambers.

Despite parting ways with Chambers, the Lions still have an open spot on their offseason roster after waiving cornerback Craig James with injury status on Tuesday, during the final OTA session for the spring. This news highlights ongoing roster changes and movements happening in preparation for the upcoming NFL season. The quick acquisition of Chambers by New England demonstrates how fluid NFL team rosters are during this period.
