From Lawyer to Caddie: Aurora’s Paul Emerson Takes on New Role During Canadian Open

Replacement Fan Fills In for Injured Caddie at Canadian Open

Paul Emerson, a lawyer from Aurora, Ontario, stepped up to caddie for CT Pan during the final round of the Canadian Open on Sunday. As his regular caddie Mike ‘Fluff’ Cowan suffered an injury while tripping and falling on the third fairway, Emerson carried Pan’s clubs for two holes. Not only did he have the opportunity to meet 2019 Open champion Lowry, but he also made an appearance on television coverage of the event.

Emerson described his experience as exhilarating, shaking hands with Lowry and his caddie while walking up the fairway. After the third hole, a member of the caddie services team took over from Emerson on the fifth hole. Meanwhile, Cowan received treatment for his injuries after being taken to the clubhouse. Pan finished three under and tied for 35th place in a highly competitive tournament. Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre, with his father as caddie, went on to win his first PGA Tour title at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
