From Interim to Dean: Celebrating the Accomplishments and Vision of UNCW’s New College of Business Leader

Michael Harris appointed as the new dean of ECU’s College of Business

Harris is thrilled to be appointed as the new dean of the College of Business. He expressed his gratitude and excitement for being given this opportunity, recognizing the significant impact it has had on himself and others. He looks forward to working with colleagues who share his vision of excellence and dedication to developing future leaders who will make a difference in eastern North Carolina and beyond.

Harris has been instrumental in advancing the College of Business during his time as interim dean. He played a key role in establishing the Twilley Academy of Sales Leadership through a generous donation from Richard G. Twilley, which has dedicated itself to providing top-notch sales education and executive programs. Harris also focused on reconnecting with COB Pirate Nation, traveling extensively to meet with alumni, industry partners, and supporters across eight states.

During his tenure, he helped create the Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School of Business and launch the Office of Expert Services. Harris was involved in the completion and opening of the Isley Innovation Hub, a state-of-the-art facility for students to work on innovative projects. To provide COB students with practical experiences beyond the classroom, he collaborated with the College’s Business Advisory Council to offer travel opportunities that complemented their academic curriculum. These experiences allowed students to connect with alumni, explore different career paths, and gain valuable insights into the business world.

As dean, Harris is committed to continuing this level of excellence and dedication towards building future leaders who will make a difference in eastern North Carolina and beyond while leveraging over 30,000 alumni who are committed to lifting up and guiding current students.
