Florence hosts McLeod New Graduate Nurse Signing Day

McLeod Regional Medical Center welcomed over 55 new graduate nurses on July 1, 2024, during a special celebration signing day event at the Florence Center on June 25. The event was designed to mimic athletic signing day events where athletes sign letters of intent to play college sports, but in this case, the nurses signed their letters of intent to work for McLeod Health.

The new hires were set to work at McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Cheraw, and McLeod Health Dillon. The new graduates had the opportunity to invite their loved ones to join them for an evening filled with photos, gifts, and the chance to interact with their fellow graduates as they were officially welcomed into the McLeod Health family.

Donna Isgett, RN, President & Chief Executive Officer of McLeod Health, expressed her excitement and understanding of what the evening meant to each of the new nurses. She emphasized the importance of nursing in the organization and encouraged the nurses to strive for greatness in their careers. The nurses in attendance had graduated from various institutions including Francis Marion University, Central Carolina Technical College, Williamsburg Technical College, and other reputable schools in the region.

Octavia Williams Blake, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer at McLeod Health also addressed the new nurses, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to recruiting and retaining the best employees. She expressed gratitude to the new nurses for choosing to join the McLeod Health family and highlighted the importance of having a strong team of healthcare professionals to provide excellent care to patients. The signing day event was a memorable evening for the new graduate nurses as they embarked on their careers at McLeod Health.
