In 2019, visitors to the Gamescom gaming trade fair in Cologne, Germany had the chance to try out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The event showcased the popular video game and allowed attendees to experience its gameplay firsthand.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is gearing up to introduce its first-ever Dragon Ball Z theme park as part of its Qiddiya project. Covering 5.3 million square feet, the entertainment venue will feature seven different areas inspired by the original Japanese anime television series. With over 30 themed rides, hotels, and restaurants, the theme park is set to offer a unique experience for fans of Dragon Ball Z.
The upcoming theme park will include five “world first” rides, including a 230-foot-high roller coaster named Shenron after the series’ iconic magical dragon. In addition to the theme park, Saudi Arabia has made significant investments in video games and anime productions, with collaborations between Japan-based companies like Toei Animation and MiSK.
Qiddiya City, where the theme park will be located, is a massive project that aims to offer over 400 attractions to residents and visitors. With plans for a Six Flags park, a waterpark, and various entertainment options, Qiddiya City is expected to become a tourist destination. Vision 2030 led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman seeks to boost tourism in the kingdom and diversify its economy away from oil reliance.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund has been instrumental in funding projects like Qiddiya City with a goal of attracting 150 million tourists annually by 2030. With successful past events and attractions, Saudi Arabia is working towards establishing itself as a top tourist destination on the global stage.
