Amidst the excitement of reaching its fundraising goal, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium hosted an evening to honor its most generous donors. Sponsored by Christie’s, the event showcased delicious food and wine pairings to celebrate the success of the “Elevating Science Education” campaign. Thanks to their overwhelming support, the campaign has raised $100 million out of its $122 million goal.
As a token of appreciation, CSCA President & CEO Kate Arrizza thanked the attendees for their remarkable contributions. She emphasized that without their support, the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for later that week would not have been possible. The guests were recognized as friends and supporters of the Science Center and were praised for recognizing the value of its mission.
Following the event, CSCA leadership officially broke ground to mark the beginning of construction on an ambitious expansion project. After more than sixty years, this planned expansion will transform CSCA into a leading destination for scientific education and exploration. The new science building will be visible from I-95, while new outdoor areas and one of Florida’s largest indoor aquariums will enhance visitor experience.
The current indoor/outdoor campus is expected to double in size from 50,000 square feet to over 100,000 square feet, with the aquarium expanding from 10,000 gallons to 130,000 gallons. This ambitious project aims to further establish CSCA as a hub for scientific education and exploration in South Florida.
