From Food Truck to Ruin: Memphis Owner Struggles to Rebuild After Theft

Business owner optimistic for improved economic outlook following break-in of food truck

A food truck owner in Memphis is struggling to rebuild his business after it was stolen late Friday night. Keedran Franklin, the owner of Pizza Dis Pizza Dat food truck, was devastated when he discovered that nearly everything had been taken from his truck. This incident has forced him to start over from scratch after years of creating businesses to provide food options for Memphians.

Franklin described the moment he found his food truck broken into and many items missing, expressing a mix of anger and sadness. The theft occurred while the truck was parked behind Growlers in Midtown, shortly after Franklin secured a 1-year residency position at Overton Park Shell. This setback has put a pause on his plans and opportunities to serve the community and contribute to the culture of Memphis.

Despite being frustrated with the theft, Franklin acknowledges that the issue runs deeper than just his own personal loss. He believes that everyone should have enough resources to prevent these types of incidents from occurring. He hopes for a better economic future for Memphis, where everyone can thrive and not resort to petty thefts.

In response to the robbery, a Go Fund Me campaign has been launched by the director of Overton Park Shell to help Franklin recover and get his food truck back on track. The community has come together to support Franklin in his time of need, showing solidarity in the face of adversity.
