In a major career shift, former 10TV sports anchor Dave Holmes has joined ABC 6 as its sports director. The announcement was made on Thursday night, with Holmes expressing his excitement about the opportunity.

In a social media post, Holmes mentioned that culture and creative freedom were important to him at this stage of his career, and he believed that ABC 6 excelled in both areas. He is stepping into the role previously held by Clay Hall, who retired from the station in February.

Reflecting on his time at 10TV, Holmes shared a heartfelt message in a goodbye segment on social media. Despite initially intending to retire from the station, he acknowledged that life had other plans for him. Holmes began his career in sports broadcasting while studying at Kent State University, where he won the reality show “ESPN Dream Job.” This led to a one-year contract with ESPN, making him the youngest anchor in the history of national television. His impressive career has also earned him 26 regional Emmy awards, highlighting his skills and dedication in the sports broadcasting industry.
