Austin police arrested former Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat on Sunday and charged him with driving while intoxicated. At 2:12 p.m., the 22-year-old was taken into custody and booked into Travis County jail. The charge of driving under the influence is considered a Class B misdemeanor, and his bond was set at $3,000.
Sweat had an impressive college career, earning Big 12 defensive player of the year honors and winning the Outland Trophy for the best interior lineman in college football last season. In 2023, he recorded a career-high 45 tackles, with 18 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, one blocked kick, and even caught a two-yard touchdown pass. Sweat started eight of the 14 games he played for the Longhorns that season.
With his talent and accomplishments on the field, Sweat is projected to be a first- or second-round draft pick during the upcoming NFL draft scheduled for April 25-27. Despite his legal troubles, his performance on the field has caught the attention of many in the football world, and teams may still be willing to take a chance on him based on his skills and potential.
