Despite the disruptions caused by the construction, Sorenson expresses gratitude for the unexpected increase in business. Customer foot traffic varies depending on the day and weather conditions, with some customers walking several blocks to reach his store. Rosario mentions that delivery drivers often cancel orders due to the difficulty in navigating the construction zone.
On the other hand, Dale Lee, owner of Uncommon Grounds Coffee House, shares a different perspective. He views the disruptions as temporary inconveniences that will lead to long-term benefits for the neighborhood. Lee envisions a modern and improved area once the project is completed. As plans are already in place for further work to be done on Hennepin Avenue between 26th and Douglas Ave starting in 2025, many remain hopeful for a revitalized neighborhood once the project is complete.
