UNC baseball in the College World Series catches Roy Williams’ attention in Omaha

Roy Williams, a legendary coach and Tar Heel-for-life, was spotted at the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, cheering on his alma mater, North Carolina. This moment reaffirmed his deep connection to Chapel Hill and his unwavering loyalty to the Tar Heels. During March Madness, Williams traveled to Tucson, Arizona to watch NC State lose in the Final Four, further solidifying his status as a Chapel Hill lifer.

Williams coached at North Carolina for 19 years from 2003 to 2021, leading the Tar Heels to three championships and six Final Four appearances. His coaching record of 485-163 (212-94 in the ACC) at North Carolina was undeniable. His overall coaching record of 903-264, including a noteworthy 79-27 in the NCAA Tournament, cemented his legacy as one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history. Prior to coaching at North Carolina, Williams spent 15 seasons at Kansas, another college basketball powerhouse.
