Nearly seven years after his split with his bagman of 25 years, Bones Mackay, in June 2017, Phil Mickelson has announced that the man who replaced him, his younger brother Tim Mickelson, is leaving his job as caddie to spend more time with his family. When Tim first took on the role of caddie for Phil, he had just left his job as the men’s college golf coach at Arizona State to become Jon Rahm’s agent. During his time working for Mickelson, he helped him win three times on the PGA Tour and even contributed to the team’s victory at the 2021 PGA Championship. However, Tim also followed Phil to LIV Golf two years ago, despite Phil not seeing much success in the Saudi-backed league. Mickelson expressed gratitude for the great moments shared with Tim both on and off the course over the past eight years. With no announcement yet about a replacement caddie, LIV Golf’s next event is scheduled for next week at Doral outside of Miami.
