From Bundesliga to La Liga: How Jude Bellingham Has Become Europe’s Most Valuable Midfielder in a Short Amount of Time

La Liga Player of the Year award goes to Bellingham

England national team midfielder Jude Bellingham has been named La Liga’s Player of the Season, making history in his debut year playing for Real Madrid. The 20-year-old scored 19 goals in the league, helping Real Madrid secure the title with a 10-point lead. In addition to his league performances, Bellingham also scored four goals in the Champions League, where Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley on Saturday.

Bellingham stood out from players like Vinicius Jr, Antoine Griezmann, Artem Dovbyk, and Robert Lewandowski in the voting done by fans, club captains, and experts. Before joining Real Madrid for £88.5m, Bellingham won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award while playing for Borussia Dortmund in the 2022-23 season. Unfortunately, he was unable to attend the awards ceremony as he was preparing for the final.

Despite his individual successes on and off the pitch, Bellingham credited his teammates, coaching staff and fans for his achievements. With 29 caps for England and three goals for his national team so far, Bellingham is set to play a significant role for Gareth Southgate’s squad at Euro 2024 in Germany starting on June 14th. England’s first match will be against Serbia on June 16th in Gelsenkirchen.
