From Buckeye to Pats: Unlikely Linebacker Chambers Seeks to Make his Mark in New England

Patriots sign LB Steele Chambers, release LB Jay Person

On Tuesday, the Patriots made some changes to their roster by claiming linebacker Steele Chambers off of waivers. In order to make room for Chambers, they waived linebacker Jay Person from the 90-man roster.

Chambers was recently let go by the Lions after they signed linebacker Ben Niemann on Monday. The undrafted Ohio State linebacker had an impressive three seasons with the Buckeyes, racking up 207 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions, and a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Similarly, Person was also undrafted this year and had stints at Appalachian State and Chattanooga before joining the professional ranks. Both players have shown potential and will be looking to make an impact with the Patriots as they continue to train and prepare for the upcoming season.
