From Brighton to Marseille: Roberto De Zerbi’s Coaching Journey and the French Club’s Hope for a Better Season

Marseille and De Zerbi reach agreement in principle

Roberto De Zerbi, the 45-year-old Italian coach, has agreed in principle to become the new manager of Marseille. He will replace Jean-Louis Gasset at the French club, who finished eighth in the league last season and missed out on European competition.

De Zerbi led Brighton to an 11th place finish in his second season as their manager before leaving the English club at the end of the season. Prior to joining Marseille, he had been linked with a potential move to Chelsea but ultimately decided to join the French club.

As a successful coach with experience leading teams through European competitions, De Zerbi’s appointment is seen as a significant achievement for Marseille. His coaching abilities will be valuable assets for the club as they look to achieve success in the upcoming season.
