From Bisexual to Lesbian: Reneé Rapp’s Journey to Embracing Her True Identity

15 LGBTQ+ Celebrities, Actors, and Reality Stars Who Came Out in 2024

In early 2024, Reneé Rapp made the brave decision to publicly come out as a lesbian after years of identifying as bisexual. The announcement came on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show, where she stated, “I don’t think I like boys.” This revelation came after being referred to as a “little lesbian intern” on “Saturday Night Live” in January.

Rapp reflected on her character in “Sex Lives of College Girls,” and Leighton Murray shared that her personal journey with her sexuality mirrored that of her on-screen persona. In February, Rapp opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her decision to identify as a lesbian. She spoke about feeling confused and insecure in her acting while in a relationship with a man. It wasn’t until a recent relationship that she felt confident in calling herself a lesbian. Describing the experience as rewarding, validating, scary, and exciting, Rapp expressed her newfound sense of self.

Despite some negative reactions from friends, Rapp shared her fears about publicly coming out on “Saturday Night Live” in June. She admitted to feeling terrified and staying off her phone for a couple of days after the announcement. However, she ultimately found the experience liberating and empowering. Rapp’s journey to embracing her identity as a lesbian has been met with both challenges and moments of growth.
