Fresh World Brings New Life to Long-Empty Mount Vernon Square Grocery Store with Upcoming Grand Opening

Fresh World, an international grocery store chain, will open in Mount Vernon this fall.

Fresh World is set to bring new life to the long-empty grocery store at Mount Vernon Square with its upcoming grand opening. The chief operating officer, Joshua Kim, announced that renovations are currently underway and that the store will open its doors in September 2024. This location will be the company’s fifth in Northern Virginia and third in Fairfax.

The acquisition of the 70,617-square-foot property was made by Mt. Vernon Square LLC, an affiliate of Fresh World, for $17.1 million. The shopping center also includes other retailers like Ledo Pizza, Virginia ABC, M&T Bank, and a nail salon. Two more vacant spaces are expected to be leased by the end of the year, with one rumored to be a Korean restaurant.

Fresh World aims to provide a well-stocked international neighborhood grocery store for the locals and future customers in Mount Vernon Square. In anticipation of the grand opening, the parking lot of the shopping center will be completely repaved. The ‘Coming Soon’ banner is a sign of the exciting changes to come in the area.
