French Rider Thomas Chareyre Wins GP of Comunitat Valenciana in Thrilling 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship Opening Round

Results from Round 1 of the 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship

The 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship kicked off with the opening round, the GP of Comunitat Valenciana, in Albaida, Spain on April 20-21. In this round, French rider Thomas Chareyre emerged victorious. Chareyre, riding a Honda CRF450R, engaged in a tough battle with Germany’s Mark Reiner Schmidt, the number-one plate holder, to secure the overall win.

Chareyre showed his dominance by winning every time he was on the bike. Schmidt, on a TM, faced competition from KTM rider Julen Avila Cortes of Spain, who finished third overall. Honda riders Elia Sammartin from Italy and Ferran Cardus from Spain completed the top five overall finishers.

In addition to the Supermoto class race, there was also a SuperMoto Legends race that featured Czech rider Petr Vorlicek on a Honda clinching victory ahead of Great Britain’s Jay Smith on a KTM and Scott Murray also on a Honda. Germany’s Mark Reiner Schmidt secured the runner-up spot on a TM.
