French Parliamentarians Dress in Colorful Clothes to Protest Gaza Genocide: Solidarity with Palestine Despite Suspension and Sanctions for Displaying Flag

Left-wing lawmakers don Palestinian flag colors as they attend the French Parliament

French deputies dressed in red, green, and black clothes went to the National Assembly to protest against the genocide in Gaza and demand a ceasefire and the release of hostages. This gesture was in support of the Palestinian people, following the expulsion and sanctions imposed on legislator Sébastien Delogu from France Insoumise (LFI) for displaying the flag in May. LFI explained on social media that this act by its deputies was in solidarity with Palestine.

Images shared by the party showed its representatives standing together, holding up flags and signs. MP Rachel Kéké displayed a flag in the Assembly, resulting in Delogu’s 15-day suspension and partial salary withdrawal for two months. The president of the Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, emphasized that the parliamentary seat is for democratic debate conducted orally and stated that the board will consider additional sanctions.
