Franciscan Health to Invest $185M in Expansion of Munster Hospital – Inside INdiana Business

Franciscan Health in Mishawaka is investing $185.5 million in expanding its hospital in Munster. As part of the project, a five-story addition will be constructed to enhance the capabilities of the hospital’s existing facilities. Portions of the existing hospital will also be renovated to provide larger, realigned support space and public amenities.

The expansion will include interventional, inpatient, and specialty care space to turn the hospital into a regional medical center for north Lake County. Additionally, plans include adding three stories to an existing three-story medical office building on the hospital’s campus, as well as a new facilities plant, parking lot, and relocated helipad.

The project is expected to add approximately 700,000 square feet of space on the campus. The goal is to create a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that can serve the needs of the community for years to come.

While it is unclear how many new jobs will be created with the expansion at this time, it is clear that this project will have a significant impact on north Lake County’s healthcare landscape. The timeline for completion of the project is also unknown at this time, but it is certain that Franciscan Health’s commitment to expanding its services in Munster will benefit both patients and healthcare providers alike.
