Four Outstanding Individuals Recognized for Contributions to NASA’s Exploration Mission

June 2024: Ames Science Directorate’s Top Stars

The NASA Ames Science Directorate is pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions of four individuals who have showcased the talent, teamwork, and forward-thinking necessary to explore beyond our world. These individuals are Amy Gresser, Mary Beth Wilhelm, Taylor Bell, and Liane Guild.

Amy Gresser has been instrumental in managing the space biology portfolio for the Space Biosciences Division. Her exemplary leadership has ensured workforce protection and science planning through budgeting while cultivating a culture of excellence.

Mary Beth Wilhelm has been a planetary scientist and astrobiologist within the Space Science & Astrobiology Division. She has demonstrated exceptional leadership in team projects and innovative thinking with her recent proposal selection. Her collaborative nature has also been vital to the division’s success.

Dr. Taylor Bell is another planetary scientist from the Space Science & Astrobiology Division who has made groundbreaking research on a popular hot Jupiter target using observations from the James Webb Space Telescope. His exciting results were published in Nature Astronomy, showcasing his significant contributions to the field.

Lastly, Dr. Liane Guild is an ecosystems scientist in the Earth Science Division who has represented NASA on the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force and presented her CyanoSCape project at HQ Focus Area team meetings. She also attended a Surface Biology and Geology meeting and led an Interagency Agreement with Naval Postgraduate School (CIRPAS) to validate data from PACE-PAX mission using Ames’ 4STAR-B airborne instrument.

These individuals’ dedication to NASA’s mission demonstrates their commitment to exploring not only our world but also beyond it.
