Former World Champion Amir Khan in Talks to Fight on Misfits Card, Sparking Concerns about Gimmick Tag-Team Fights

Khan in negotiations to compete in crossover Misfits event

Former world champion Amir Khan is in talks to fight on a Misfits card, which was set up by KSI and promotional partners Wasserman Boxing. Khan, who won silver at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and has had several high-profile fights throughout his career, is rumored to be considering a bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI.

Khan’s two-year doping ban following his fight against Kell Brook in February 2023 has now been lifted, and he recently expressed interest in fighting Jake Paul. However, critics argue that Misfits damages the integrity of the sport with gimmick tag-team fights involving social media stars and celebrities.

It remains unclear which governing body will oversee a potential Misfits card featuring Khan, as the organization has parted ways with the Professional Boxing Association. Khan previously held a boxing license with the British Boxing Board of Control and had most of his fights overseen by that governing body. KSI won his pro boxing debut against Logan Paul in 2019 but suffered a loss to Tommy Fury in 2023.

Khan retired from boxing in May 2022 with a record of 34 wins and six losses. He tested positive for ostarine in a UK Anti-Doping test following his fight against Brook but maintained that it was unintentional. An independent tribunal accepted his argument, ruling out deliberate or reckless conduct.

Misfits continues to draw attention as social media personalities take to the ring in unconventional matchups, raising concerns about the impact of such events on the sport’s integrity.
