Former Tiger Woods Coach Butch Harmon Helps Rory McIlroy in Bid for Masters Victory

Rory McIlroy Seeks Coaching Advice from Butch Harmon, Former Coach of Tiger Woods, Ahead of Masters Tournament

In preparation for his upcoming bid to win The Masters, Rory McIlroy has sought the expertise of Butch Harmon, Tiger Woods’ former coach. Currently ranked number two in the world, McIlroy is aiming to become the sixth player to win all four men’s majors by securing a victory at the Masters next week.

With only one top-20 finish on the PGA Tour this season, the 34-year-old turned to Harmon for assistance. Known for coaching top players to success, Harmon previously worked with Woods during his early major wins. McIlroy typically works with coach Michael Bannon but decided to seek Harmon’s guidance for a fresh perspective.

During a recent podcast interview, McIlroy shared that he visited Harmon for a golf lesson in Las Vegas. He recalled a heartwarming moment with his daughter, Poppy, who questioned why he needed a golf lesson when he already knew how to play. Despite her innocence, McIlroy found her words to be the best advice he had received in years.

Harmon, known for mentoring champions like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, has a wealth of experience in improving players’ performances. McIlroy, who has finished second at Augusta and made several other top-ten appearances, has yet to secure a Masters victory. With Harmon’s guidance and his own determination, McIlroy remains hopeful for success at the prestigious tournament.
