Matt Corral has come a long way since being considered one of the top quarterback prospects for the NFL draft class two years ago. Today, he led the Birmingham Stallions to a road victory in the first game of the UFL season. The Stallions, who were the USFL champions in 2023, defeated the XFL-champion Arlington Renegades with a score of 27-14.
Corral, originally a third-round pick for the Carolina Panthers in 2022, had an impressive performance in the game. He completed 12 of 21 passes for 201 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. Additionally, Corral contributed 25 rushing yards on four carries to help secure the win for the Stallions.
Despite taking an early lead with a score of 11-3, Arlington lost momentum when Corral connected with receiver Deon Cain for a 39-yard touchdown pass at the end of the second quarter. The Stallions continued to build upon their lead in the second half and ultimately outplayed Arlington.
