Former NFL First-Rounder Sentenced to Prison for DUI Tragedy: Henry Ruggs’ Time as a Community Trusty

Henry Ruggs is currently employed at the Nevada governor’s residence

Henry Ruggs, a former first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders, is currently serving a three-to-10-year prison sentence following a tragic incident in November 2021. While driving under the influence and at an excessive speed, Ruggs struck and killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.

Ruggs is currently employed as a community trusty at the Stewart Conservation Camp, where he works alongside approximately four other inmates. He is classified as such due to his potential to misbehave and low risk of escape while working in the community. Ruggs is eligible for parole in August 2026.

In 2020, Ruggs was drafted by the Raiders as the 12th overall pick, ahead of other notable receivers that year including Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, and Michael Pittman Jr.
