Former MLB Player and TV Analyst, Craig Monroe, Faces Sexual Assault Allegations from Minor: Status Unclear in Broadcast Booth

Detroit Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit Acknowledge Analyst Craig Monroe’s Absence Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Craig Monroe, a former MLB outfielder and current Detroit Tigers broadcaster, has been absent from the broadcast booth for about a month after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman when she was a minor. The woman claimed that the abuse began when she was 12 years old and continued into her adult life.

The accusations against Monroe surfaced on social media, with the woman stating that she initially reached out to both the network and the team with her claims, but received no response. She then posted them on social media. Monroe played nine MLB seasons, including more than five with the Tigers, before retiring in 2009. He began working as a Tigers broadcaster in 2012 and was the lead analyst for Bally Sports Detroit this season.

Despite the allegations, Monroe has not publicly addressed them, leaving his return to his role with Bally Sports uncertain. The Tigers and the network have stated that they are taking the allegations seriously and will not have further comment on the matter until there is more information available.
