Former Jet Marcus Maye Joins Dolphins’ Defensive Roster as Signed Safety

Dolphins sign Marcus Maye to contract

Marcus Maye, a seasoned safety who has been without a team since being released by the Saints in March, has made the decision to sign with the Dolphins. The 31-year-old originally began his NFL career with the Jets after being selected as a second-round pick in the 2017 draft.

During his time with the Jets, Maye showcased his skills and played in 77 games, accumulating impressive statistics such as 409 tackles, eight interceptions, 28 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, and 4.5 sacks. However, he faced challenges on the field due to suspensions and injuries that caused him to miss as many games as he played.

The addition of Maye to the Dolphins’ secondary during the offseason further reinforces their defensive unit. With the acquisition of cornerback Kendall Fuller and safety Jordan Poyer, Maye provides even more depth and experience to the team. His versatility and proven track record will undoubtedly be an asset to the Dolphins as they aim to strengthen their defensive unit for the upcoming season.
