Former Captain Wasim Akram Slams Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Performance: A Culture of Complacency and Biased Selection

Former Cricketer Wasim Akram Criticizes Pakistan Team for Early T20 World Cup Elimination on Flight EK 601 to Dubai | Cricket News

After Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, with their elimination due to the abandonment of the USA-Ireland match, former captain Wasim Akram has expressed his disappointment with the team. Despite Pakistan’s only victory against Canada, Akram had harsh words for the Pakistani side led by Babar Azam.

Akram questioned the team’s strategy and hinted at potential changes to come. He also attributed Pakistan’s poor performance to biased selection and criticized the tendency of Pakistani players to believe nothing would happen if they underperformed, leading to a culture of complacency.

Former player Kamran Akmal echoed Akram’s sentiments, arguing that players like Shadab Khan were selected based on friendship rather than merit, leaving out deserving players like top wicket-taker Usama Mir from the squad. This, he claimed, led to unjust decisions and ultimately poor results for the team.
